Jarrett Hurd’s Backstory

Hurd is 30 years old now and won the vacant IBF title in February 2017; by stopping Tony Harrison in the ninth round, and further eight months later, he defended against Austin Trout for the first time. He made Austin land in such a situation that he couldn’t come out for the 11th round. This made Hurd win the IBA and WBO titles by defeating Erislandy Lara after his split decision in 2018. Later on, in December 2018, he defended many titles against Jason Wellborn with the fourth-round stoppage. Then Hurd ultimately ran into Williams.

Jarrett Hurd became a professional boxer in 2012 after acquiring 32-8 and 136 rounds of experience as an amateur. He’s a former three-time winner of Golden Gloves that happened in Washington DC. He has also beaten profound players like Trout, Harrison, Frank Galarza, Santana, Lara, Ionut Dan Ion, Eric Mitchell, and Oscar Molina. Moreover, Jerrett Hurd owns an excellent knockout ratio of 64%. He isn’t even 6 feet in height and has a reach of 78 inches.

Despite all this, Jerrett is an underrated boxer with a low-key personality. He earned a fanbase due to his aggressive boxing style in the ring. In 2018, he battled against Lara, which turned out to be one of the best of the year. Additionally, Hurd dropped the former champion in the 12th round to win. Last year, his bout against Williams got humongous attention when he picked himself up from the canvas in its second round. This showed his comfort with boxing as well as brawling.

Peek-A-Boo In Luis Arias Life

Luis Arias is 30 years old and boxed over 120 rounds even before becoming a pro player in 2012. He was a national champion in the middleweight category and led an amateur career with a record of 140-25. Similar to Hurd, even Arias’s height isn’t 6 feet and is nearly 5 feet-11 inches, but both achieved things of unlisted approach. Luis has a knockout ratio of 40.9%, so he is clearly not acquainted as the power puncher. Last year, he climbed into the ring with a mark of 18-2-1 with 9 Kos; thus, he has a fine record till now.

In 2017, Arias lost professionally at the hands of Daniel Jacobs due to a 12-round unanimous decision. After a while, he fought Gabriel Rosado in the interim WBO Latino Middleweight Title, which turned out as a 12-round draw. Arias is comparatively shorter in height than Jacobs and Rosado though he possesses impressive boxing skills and a rigid chin. Unfortunately, his height complicated his win, and he lost these two bouts.

Arias was confident about his win against Jacobs and to land on the Top 10 contender’s list. But what happened is history, and he lost by scores of 118-109, 119-108, 120-107, though he played effectively throughout.

These two are the top oppositions that Luis faced. Talking about his victories, he defeated Tony Brinson, Scott Sigmon, Dionisio Miranda, and Jorge Silva. Apart from these, his biggest career highlight is against Darry Cunningham, with a fourth-round TKO in August 2016.

Conclusion Drawn

Jarrett Hurd and Luis Arias wanted to prove themself with their comeback bout. However, Luis Arias finally won the match and defeated Hurd with a 10-round split decision.
